How to read this book

Welcome to the Exposure Draft 0.1 of Collections Law: Legal Issues for Australian Archives, Galleries, Libraries and Museums.

This publication, authored by Shane Simpson, focuses on the subject of the business and law of public collecting organisations in Australia. It is intended that the book be suitable as a reference guide for public museums, libraries, archives and galleries in Australia.

The Collections Council of Australia received a grant from the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts to produce this online publication. It will be released in stages, and is freely available on this website.

There are two options available to read this book: it can be viewed online, where the reader is able to add comments throughout each chapter; or a printer-friendly PDF version of either individual chapters or the book in its entirety at the time can be downloaded. Both of these possibilities are located under Contents.

In response to comments, chapters will be updated. They will then be date stamped. To refer to any part of this publication please ensure you revisit the site in order to access the latest version of any chapter or section.

The Collections Council of Australia encourages you to explore this website, and to provide feedback on this Exposure Draft and through using the comments tool (the speech bubble next to each paragraph).
